Well, people and mortality are an odd combination.
I remember when my grandfather on my Dad's side died last year, the family got together, talked a little, but were mostly subdued until after the funeral. Once the funeral was over, it was like a weight lifted. People started talking a bit more, smiling, acting more normal.
Thursday my grandmother on my Mom's side passed away. And once again family is gathering, however this time we're sharing stories--not all of them of Grandma--having a lot of good laughs. There's more 'fun' in the atmosphere. Thou I'm sure at her service tomorrow it will be a little more somber. Heh, at least until people start sharing their favorite memories of her.
It just seems funny to me the different ways people mark the passing of loved ones. Or perhaps I'm just looking for something to keep my mind off things.....
